Logo dos

Clear space
Minimum clear space (in gray) around a stand-alone logo is determined by the height (x) of the logo. Do not violate logo clear space with any elements.

Minimum size
Logo (digital): Never smaller than 80px wide. Logo (print): Never smaller than 28mm wide.

Maximum size
Our logo may be reproduced at almost any size greater than noted here. For oversized formats the mark shouldn’t take up more than 20% of the available area.

Oversized signage
The ratio of the logo to signage area should be no more than 1:5. To check for compliance, create a 5x5 grid within the boundaries of your page margins. The logo should take up no more than 5 areas of grid.

The O’Reilly red on white background is our preferred logo treatment.

When using solid color backgrounds, always reverse out the logo. Options include white, black, or red.

The red logo may only be used on light or dark backgrounds of nonconflicting colors.

Use the O’Reilly red logo on white or light-colored backgrounds.

Use the solid black logo in one-color applications.

Use our solid white logo on gradient backgrounds.
Logo don’ts

Color
Do not alter the logo color in any way.

Placement
Do not place the logo on a shape or in a box.

Lock-ups
Do not lock up text or other elements to the O’Reilly logo.

O Dot
Do not use O’Reilly O Dot on its own in any way. Access may be granted to this asset on a case-by-case basis. Contact to request permission.
Our company name and how we use it
While our legal name is O’Reilly Media, Inc., our brand name is simply “O’Reilly.” Unfortunately, we share our name with some other rather famous O’Reillys: Bill O’Reilly, formerly of Fox News, and O’Reilly Auto Parts, for example. To help people and search engines find us fast, always use our complete web address correctly: oreilly.com.
Where the O’Reilly logo or name is positioned in the materials we produce is important. In most design executions, our mark should be placed in the top left corner. In body copy, using O’Reilly early provides important context to all the words that follow. In all executions, please avoid overusing our name. Repetition can actually dilute its power.
The O’Reilly learning platform
The O’Reilly learning platform is more than a library—it’s a learning solution. When referring to the O’Reilly learning platform, please avoid wording or references that could limit a reader’s understanding of everything it entails. This includes terms that might make visitors equate the O’Reilly learning platform with the mental model of a library or publisher (i.e., words like “access”).
Tip: After the first use of “the O’Reilly learning platform” in your copy, you can usually refer to it as simply “O’Reilly.” And “learning platform” is always lowercase.
Example: The O’Reilly learning platform gives you the tools you need to succeed with Python. Learn how to solve your pressing problems and get back to work fast, only with O’Reilly.
Note: Please discontinue the use of both “O’Reilly online learning” and “Safari” (our previous names for the O’Reilly learning platform) in all communication.
