OSCON Puts Open Source to Work: O'Reilly Open Source Convention Opens Call for Participation

Sebastopol, CA, December 22, 2009—OSCON, the O'Reilly Open Source Convention, puts the freedom of open source to work July 19-23, 2010, at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. Program chairs Edd Dumbill and Allison Randal have opened the call for participation, requesting proposals for sessions and tutorials.

OSCON is the premier gathering place to learn about and test all things open source. If you want your work to be faster, more effective, or more efficient, OSCON can help you make it happen.

Allison and Edd invite proposals on topics such as:

  • Doing more with less
  • Design and usability
  • Open source in smart phones and mobile networked devices
  • Cloud computing, openness in distributed services
  • Parallelization, grid, and multicore technologies
  • Open web, open standards, open data
  • AI, machine learning, and other ways to make software smarter
  • Open source in democracy, politics, government, and education
  • Best practices for building a business model around open source
  • Virtualization, appliances, and how to create and deploy them

Proposals will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. PST February 1, 2010 at
